ONLINE COURSES

FOR HOME SCHOOLS & FAMILIES

Emotional wellness and relationship skills are considered electives in many educational systems. Yet we know these skills are essential to building healthy and happy lives. When your child is homeschooled, building these skills is important to their development and well-belling, but can be difficult to navigate alone. This home school elective curriculum focuses on social-emotional learning and growth, and can be completed entirely online.

Working with children across age groups, cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and family structures

We’ve witnessed kids’ shared desire to connect with others. To that end, we’ve developed our online and on-demand home school electives to reflect the wishes of children not only to connect but thrive in their relationships.

Our home school elective curriculum is a product of 20 years of working alongside young people and their families, and our methods have been used with great success time and time again.

Our work is grounded in compassion and empathy, peaceful conflict resolution, and restorative justice practices. To that end, the material is aligned with CASEL’s (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) SEL (Social Emotional Learning) competencies and are blended with our specific emphasis on equity and belonging.

Digital Courses

We’ve taken 20 years of experience and put it into an on-demand digital form. All of our courses are designed to give students a deep experience of empathy and connection. In alignment with the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning’s (CASEL) Social Emotional Learning (SEL) competencies and our specific emphasis on equity and belonging, our online courses help students acquire tools to be more emotionally resilient, empathetic, happy, and productive.

Parent Workshops

Parents are an integral part of the school community, and we want them to know what their kids are learning. When the Soul Shoppe tools are reinforced at home, the effect is a faster and long-lasting integration. And sometimes, parents can use a little extra support too! For those moments, we offer a small, curated list of training for parents.

Elements of Service

At Soul Shoppe, we strive to do what is best for students. Part of achieving our mission is carefully crafting material that can be otherwise confusing or overwhelming into age-appropriate lessons that significantly impact individuals, families, and communities.

Our passion is to guide young students through complex concepts, such as identifying their emotions or navigating the confusing waters of wanting to feel special but being afraid to stand out. Though our material tackles big issues with little hearts in mind, we don’t avoid uncomfortable topics. Instead, we consider the level of learning development appropriate for your children’s ages and speak to them at their level.

In our Allies Against Racism course, for example, we’ve built a curriculum around the objective of helping students develop the self-awareness and social skills that will aid them in identifying and navigating issues such as racism while gaining confidence in themselves and consideration of others.

Our homeschool elective course Tools of the Heart, was born out of the need for social-emotional learning at home. In this elective, students learn how to identify and regulate their emotions, use their voice to communicate their feelings and needs, use meditative practices to self-soothe and regain control of their feelings, and the power of forgiveness and reconciliation.

The Respect Differences curriculum helps children recognize and appreciate all the things that make every person special and unique, including themselves. This homeschool elective is designed to enhance the social-emotional learning of kids through making discoveries about their likes and dislikes and how those may differ from others, as well as a myriad of topics designed to build appreciation and respect for others.
