Soul Shoppe presents the

Same Same Different Game

Join us for some Free Fun on February 25th

from 12:30 – 1 pm PST

Imagine back to when you were a kid: you’re walking into a new classroom for the first time. What do you notice?

Sure you’ll see the whiteboard (or blackboard for some of us!) and colorful posters on the walls. You’ll notice the teacher and the desks lined up in neat rows. But your attention is probably first drawn to the other students.

What clothes are they wearing?

Are their shoes nicer than yours?

Do they look like you? Or different?

Do you think you’ll like these kids? Will they like you?

We can unconsciously process all of these thoughts in a matter of seconds! That’s because our brains are designed to seek patterns. Based on similarities and differences, our brains lump the people and things we see everyday into categories to make it easier for us to absorb all this information about our surroundings.

The problem with this kind of labeling is that it’s a lot easier to notice our differences than it is to uncover the things we have in common. It means we’re making assumptions and snap judgments about people based on their age, appearance, outfits, and other surface-level observations.

Here at Soul Shoppe, we want to teach kids that our differences don’t have to divide us: they can be a source of strength and resilience.

More importantly, we want to show that while we all have our differences, what matters most is the things we share: things like empathy, connection, and compassion.

Soul Shoppe invites you and your little ones to join us and learn how to recognize, celebrate, and respect differences with our FREE virtual event:

the Same Same Different Game!

Can you spot the differences? How are we all the same?

Thursday, February 25th from 12:30 – 1:00 pm PST

This month, we’re back with yet another virtual game! Join us on Thursday, February 25th as Soul Shoppe’s founder Vicki Abadesco challenges our audience to spot the differences between two people, then dig deeper to celebrate what they have in common.

Learning to spot differences is an important stage in a child’s development. It’s this recognition that allows kids to define their own unique personalities, likes, and dislikes. But how kids learn to interpret those differences can have a huge impact on their self-esteem and relationships for the rest of their lives.

You see, by 5 years old, kids start to assign value to their differences as they realize that some people have more and others less, some traits are better and some are worse.

They can start to feel like not having something means that they are not enough – not smart enough, pretty enough, funny enough, loveable enough.

This focus on our differences teaches kids to compare themselves to others and base their value on where they rank. Soul Shoppe’s here to show that regardless of our differences, every human being is deserving of love and respect.

The Same Same Different Game is designed to teach kids how to appreciate all the things that make them unique and to show more empathy and tolerance toward people with ideas, appearances, likes, and dislikes different from their own.

This FREE activity will last about 20-30 minutes, so be sure to log in on time. Simply click the button to register! Stay tuned for further details on Facebook & Instagram!
