.Soul Shoppe Programs (“Soul Shoppe”) operates soulshoppe.org may operate other websites. It is Soul Shoppe’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our websites.

We Commit to the Following Privacy Principles

  • We are committed to designing and operating our technology and services to create a secure environment.
  • We do not rent or sell your personal information to third parties.
  • We limit the data collected from children to only that which is necessary to meet the educational purposes of Soul Shoppe.
  • We do not market to young learners under the age of 13 on our platform.
  • Soul Shoppe uses industry standard protocol to ensure that student data is encrypted and transmitted securely from end to end and at rest.
  • Soul Shoppe complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
  • Soul Shoppe agrees to operate as a school official as the term is used in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and operates at the direct control of our school and district customers with respect to our use and handling of their student records.
  • This privacy policy applies to Soul Shoppe owned and operated websites and mobile applications (which we collectively refer to as “Services”). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

What Information Do We Collect?

If you create an account on Soul Shoppe Services, or communicate with Soul Shoppe, you may provide to Soul Shoppe what is generally called “Personal Information” or “Personal Data,” such as your full name, email address or other information that can be used to identify you. Information which cannot be used to identify you as an individual is “de-identified” or non-personal information.

We collect information, including personal information, in a variety of ways which may vary according to your use of the Service and your account settings. The categories of personal information we collect may include:

  • Contact and profile information
  • Account and authentication information from third-party integrated services
  • Location information
  • Information about your browser or device
  • Donation data
  • Non-personal information which may be linked to your personal information

Below, we describe examples of the categories of information we collect from and about you when you use our Services:

Website visitors.

Like most website operators, Soul Shoppe collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Soul Shoppe’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Soul Shoppe’s visitors use its website. From time to time, Soul Shoppe may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.

Soul Shoppe also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on soulshoppe.org blogs/sites. Soul Shoppe only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that commenter IP addresses and email addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog/site where the comment was left.

Gathering of personally-Identifying Information.

Certain visitors to Soul Shoppe’s websites choose to interact with Soul Shoppe in ways that require Soul Shoppe to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that Soul Shoppe gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who sign up at soulshoppe.org to provide a username and email address. Those who engage in transactions with Soul Shoppe are asked to provide additional information, including as necessary the personal and financial information required to process those transactions. In each case, Soul Shoppe collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Soul Shoppe. Soul Shoppe does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

Information from Integrated sign-on services.

If you decide to register through or otherwise grant access to a third-party social networking or integrated service (what we call an “Integrated Service”), such as Facebook, Google, Clever or similar single sign-on service, Soul Shoppe may also collect Personal Information that is already associated with your Integrated Service account. You may also have the option of sharing additional information with Soul Shoppe through an Integrated Service, as controlled through your settings on that Integrated Service. If you choose to provide such information, during registration or otherwise, Soul Shoppe will treat the information as Personal Information and will use it in the ways described in this Privacy Policy.

Information About How You Access and Use the Service

Information about your use of our services.

We may collect usage information about your use of our Service, such as the number of lessons you have completed, the number of videos you have viewed, and the amount of time spent to complete a lesson. This enables us to better understand how our content is used.

Aggregated statistics.

Soul Shoppe may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. Soul Shoppe may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, Soul Shoppe does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Protection of certain personally-Identifying Information.

Soul Shoppe discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on Soul Shoppe’s behalf or to provide services available at Soul Shoppe’s websites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using Soul Shoppe’s websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. Soul Shoppe will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, Soul Shoppe discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when Soul Shoppe believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Soul Shoppe, third parties or the public at large. If you are a registered user of a Soul Shoppe website and have supplied your email address, Soul Shoppe may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with Soul Shoppe and our products. If you send us a request (for example via email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. Soul Shoppe takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

We do not rent or sell Personal Information that we collect from users with third parties.

Cookies.

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Soul Shoppe uses cookies to help Soul Shoppe identify and track visitors, their usage of Soul Shoppe website, and their website access preferences. Soul Shoppe visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using Soul Shoppe’s websites, with the drawback that certain features of Soul Shoppe’s websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

Your Choice and Options Relating to Data Collection and Use

At Soul Shoppe, we use Personal Information as needed for the purposes for which it was collected or where you have consented to our use of your Personal Information. We take reasonable steps to ensure that the Personal Information we store and use is accurate, complete, and up-to-date. If you discover that Personal Information or other data pertaining to you is inaccurate, incomplete, or out-of-date, please update your account information or contact us as outlined below.

You can choose to not provide us with personal Information.

You may always decline to provide your Personal Information with Soul Shoppe. If you decline to register, however, Soul Shoppe will not be able to provide to you certain features and functionalities found on our Service. You may later enable or access those features by providing Soul Shoppe with the necessary Personal Information.

You can disconnect us from Integrated services.

You may revoke Soul Shoppe’s access to your account on any Integrated Service, such as Google or Facebook, at any time by updating the appropriate settings in the account preferences of the respective Integrated Service. You should check your privacy settings on each Integrated Service to understand and change the information sent to us through each Integrated Service. Please review each Integrated Service’s terms of use and privacy policies carefully before using their services and connecting to our Service.

You can unsubscribe from email communications.

Soul Shoppe may, from time to time, send you email regarding our products and services, or products and services we think you may enjoy. Only Soul Shoppe (or our vendors or service providers operating on our behalf) will send you these emails. You can choose not to receive these emails by clicking the unsubscribe link in any e-mail. Please note that you are not permitted to unsubscribe or opt-out of non-promotional messages regarding your account, such as account verification, changes or updates to features of the Service, or technical or security notices.

How to Access, Update or Delete Your Personal Information

If you register and provide Soul Shoppe with Personal Information, you may update, correct, or delete your account and information at any time.

Parents can modify or delete Child User accounts. Parents who request to modify or delete School User accounts may be directed to contact the School.

Our Approach to Data Security

Data security is important to you and to us.

To protect your privacy and security, we take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting you account access. For example, we may ask you to provide certain Personal Information to confirm your identity, and we may require that you create and use a password to access certain parts of our Service. You should create and maintain a strong password to help ensure the security of your account.

We try to ensure that our service and information sent to us are safe but no security measures are perfect.

Soul Shoppe uses certain physical, managerial, and technical safeguards designed to preserve the integrity and security of your Personal Information and other information we maintain in connection with our Service. We cannot, however, ensure or warrant the security of any or all of the information you transmit to Soul Shoppe, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission of information, Soul Shoppe makes commercially reasonable efforts to ensure the security of our systems. When you enter sensitive information, we encrypt the transmission of that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL) or similar technologies. However, please note that this is not a guarantee that such information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards. In the event that any information under our control is compromised as a result of a breach of security, we will take reasonable steps to investigate the situation and will notify you of the security incident in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Digital Course Users

Information collected during the registration process.

During the registration process for any of our digital courses, we may ask the user to provide us with a name, email address, password, and billing information. We use the information to create and service the account. We may also use this contact information to request feedback on our products and services, to inform future customer service and product improvements. If you are registering for a free trial, we will use the information to create a free trial account and to send occasional promotional emails and other marketing campaigns. You may opt out of promotional email messaging at any time.

Soul Shoppe at schools.

When engaging with Soul Shoppe, schools or districts are required to appoint an administrator (“Administrator”), who is authorized by the school or the district to be responsible for the Students Records.

Each school or district Administrator is given course access links to distribute to teachers and student users. Individual users are required to create an account. We require full name, email address, and password.

We do not send promotional emails to school or district accounts.

If a school or district uses and accesses individual accounts through any of the single sign on services that we support, we collect the information we use for the individual accounts function from the third party integrated service.

Our collection and use of Student Records is governed by our contracts with the Schools, by our Privacy Policy, and by applicable privacy laws. For example, we work with Schools to help protect personal information from the Student’s educational record, as required by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”), and to protect the personal information of students under 13 consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”). If you have any questions about reviewing, modifying, or deleting the personal information of a School User accessing the Service through a School partner agreement, please contact your School directly.

  • We collect, maintain, use and share Student Records only for an authorized educational and as described in our Privacy Policy, or as directed by the School, the School User and/or the student’s parent or legal guardian (a “Parent”).
  • We do not disclose Student Records for targeted advertising purposes. While we do permit third party advertising partners to operate on our Service for the purpose of retargeting, analytics and attribution services, we disable third party ad networks when a School User logs into a School User account on the Service.
  • We do not build a personal profile of a School User other than in furtherance of an educational purpose or as authorized by a Parent.
  • We maintain a comprehensive data security program designed to protect the types of Student Records maintained by the Service.
  • We will clearly and transparently disclose our data policies and practices to our users.
  • We will never sell Student Records unless the sale is part of a corporate transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or other sale of assets, in which case we will require the new owner to continue to honor the terms provided in this Privacy Policy or we will provide the School with notice and an opportunity to opt-out of the transfer of Student Records by deleting the Student Records before the transfer occurs.
  • We will not make any material changes to our Privacy Policy or contractual agreements that relate to the collection or use of Student Records without first giving notice to the School and providing a choice before the Student Records are used in a materially different manner than was disclosed when the information was collected.

Privacy Policy Changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, Soul Shoppe may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and in Soul Shoppe’s sole discretion. Soul Shoppe encourages visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to its Privacy Policy. If you have a soulshoppe.org account, you might also receive an alert informing you of these changes. Your continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
